Strategy Guide
Google Maps Client Acquisition Strategy for WordPress Development by Ibrahim Shabbir.
Before you touch Google Maps, decide two things:
1. What type of business are you targeting?
Restaurants, dentists, plumbers, realtors, salons, gyms, lawyers, etc.
2. What Canadian city are you targeting?
Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, etc.
Specialization demands a premium price. Instead of being a jack of all trades, narrow down one niche and specialize.
Example niches that work well in Canada:
- Restaurants in Toronto
- Dentists in Vancouver
- Plumbers in Calgary
- Real estate agents in Ottawa
- Salons and spas in Montreal
Open maps.google.com and search for your niche + city.
For each business, evaluate:
A) Do they have a website?
No website = golden lead. Basic, ugly, or outdated website = strong lead.
B) What is their Google rating?
Businesses with good reviews (4.0+) but bad websites are ideal. They can afford to pay you.
C) Is their Google Business Profile complete?
Incomplete profiles often mean the business needs help with their entire online presence.
What to collect: Business name, phone, email, website URL, Google rating, review count, notes on current site issues.
Manual research works but is slow. You need hundreds of leads for viable traction (1% response rate).
Recommended Tools:
- G Maps Extractor - Chrome extension, one-click CSV export
- Scrap.io - Filter businesses without websites, 4000+ categories, 195 countries
- Outscraper - Enrich Google Maps data with emails and contacts
- Leads Sniper - Extracts emails not listed on Google Maps
- Open Source (GitHub) - Omkarcloud's free Google Maps scraper
Organize leads into three categories:
Category A No Website (Highest Priority)
Zero online presence beyond Google listing. Easiest to sell to.
Category B Bad or Outdated Website
Not mobile responsive, slow loading, no CTA, outdated design, dead platform.
Category C Decent Website, Needs Improvement
Missing online booking, contact forms, SEO, or blog.
Focus on Category A and B first -- they are the warmest leads.
Rules:
- Personalize beyond just a name -- mention their business, city, specific details
- Share audit insights first to build authority
- CTA is to start a conversation, not close the deal
- No hard-sell in the first email
Use the Email Center in this tool to auto-generate personalized emails from templates.
Most people send one email and give up. Follow up politely up to 3 times.
| Day 1 | Send the first cold email |
| Day 3 | Follow up #1: Check if they saw your email |
| Day 7 | Follow up #2: Offer something new (speed test, report) |
| Day 14 | Follow up #3 (final): Graceful close |
Bold but effective (20-40% close rate):
- Find a business with no website or a terrible one
- Build them a simple WordPress site (1-3 pages)
- Send them an email with a link to the site you built
- Be personable, honest, and transparent
Tip: Use a template you have already built and customize colors, logo, and content. Each site takes 1-2 hours instead of a full day.
100 emails = 5-8 replies = 1-2 clients
| Leads scraped per week | 200-500 |
| Emails sent per week | 100-200 |
| Expected replies | 5-15 |
| Expected calls booked | 2-5 |
| Expected clients closed | 1-2 |
At $1,000-$3,000 per site, that is $1,000-$6,000 per week.
